Ps2:12 - "How blessed are all who take refuge in Him."... Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is to always try just one more time.- Thomas

Jer 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes..."

“I, even I, Am the Lord; and beside Me there is no Saviour(Isaiah43:11).- This is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world(John4:42).- Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour(Titus1:4).- Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord(Jeremiah23:24).-The fulness of Him that filleth all in all(Ephesians1:23).”

“The Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding(Proverbs2:6).- I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist(Luke21:15).- Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart(Psalm27:14).- My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness(2Cor12:9).”

"But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour(2Tim2:20).-The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity(2Tim2:19).- If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master's use, and prepared unto every good work(2Tim2:21).”

We are apt to forget the mystical, supernatural touch of God. The realization of the call of God in a man's life may come with a sudden thunder-clap or with a gradual dawning, but in whatever way it comes, it comes with the undercurrent of the supernatural, something that cannot be put into words, it is always accompanied with a glow. Review your circumstances and see where God is not first in your ideas of service or your abilities. Paul said, 'Woe to me, if I do not preach the gospel!' He had realized the call of God, and there was no competitor for his strength...-Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest.......1Cor9:16 “For I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”

We have all experienced times of exaltation on the mountain, when we have seen things from God's perspective and have wanted to stay there. But God will never allow us to stay there. The true test of our spiritual life is in exhibiting the power to descend from the mountain. We are made for the valley and the ordinary things of life, and that is where we have to prove our stamina and strength. Those times of exaltation are exceptional and they have their meaning in our life with God, but we must beware to keep our spiritual selfishness from wanting to make them the only time...-Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest.......Mark9:2 “. . . Jesus took . . . them up on a high mountain apart by themselves.”

It is a remarkable occurrence of nature that the most brilliant colors of plants are found on the highest mountains, in places that are the most exposed to the fiercest weather. The brightest lichens and mosses, as well as the most beautiful wildflowers, abound high upon the windswept, storm-ravaged peaks. Isn't it the same with a Christian who is afflicted, storm-tossed, and without comfort? Until the storms and difficulties allowed by God's Providence beat upon a believer again and again, his character appears flawed and blurred. Yet the trials actually clear away and shadows, perfect the form of his character, and bestow brightness and blessing to his life...-Hugh Macmillan, Streams.......Psalm119:7 “It was good for me to be afflicted.”

Marriage is Good Medicine for Men. One of the best things a man can do to live a long and fulfilled life is to get married. Men, marry someone who loves you, who communicates with you, who is on the same page as you spiritually, and who cares deeply for you. The fact is that both husband and wife need each other, and both have what the other needs. By coming together in marriage, needs in their lives are met, producing more harmonious and healthier lives. There is an emotional chemistry, a synthesis, that results from men and women bonding in marriage. Both benefit from it when it comes to health, longevity, and general happiness. Moses explained 3,000 years ago that a man should leave his father and mother and be united to his wife in such a way that the two become one flesh. Follow the guidelines of Scripture, God designed us and He knows best what produces harmony and happiness...-Sala, Refuge And Strength.......Genesis2:18 'It is not good for man to be alone.'

In order to grow in grace, we must spend a great deal of time in quiet solitude. Contact with others in society is not what causes the soul to grow most vigorously. In fact, one quiet hour of prayer will often yield greater results than many days spent in the company of others. It is in the desert that the dew is freshest and the air is most pure...-Andrew Bonar, Streams In The Desert.......Luke9:10 “He took them with Him and they withdrew by themselves.”

Fate is not the ruler but the servant of Providence...-Edward Bulwer-Lytton.......Isaiah42:16 “I will lead my blind people by roads they have never traveled; I will turn their darkness into light and make rough country smooth before them.”

“Who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not receive(1Corinthians4:7)? By the grace of God I am what I am(1Cor15:10).- Of His own will begat He us with the Word of Truth(James1:18).- It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy(Romans9:16).- Where is boasting then? It is excluded(Romans3:27).- Christ Jesus, . . . is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption . . . He that glorieth let him glory in the Lord(1Cor1:30,31).”
#0001886
If you desire to know God's voice, never consider the final outcome or the possible results. Obey Him even when He asks you to move while you still see only darkness, for He Himself will be a glorious light within you. Then there will quickly spring up within your heart a knowledge of God and a fellowship with Him, which will be overpowering enough in themselves to hold you and Him together, even in the most severe tests and under the strongest pressures of life...-Cowman, Way Of Faith, Streams.........1Kings19:12 “After the earthquake came a fire. . . . And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
#0001887
Neither can you prevent your enemies from doing what they can to hurt you as well. Their aggression may stem from not what you have done but what you represent. It all comes with the territory. Rejoice, God is in control. Stand back and be alert for the leading of God's Spirit. He will guide and direct your life...-Sala, Refuge And Strength.......Proverbs3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
#0001888
Apparent adversity will ultimately become an advantage for those of us doing what is right, if we are willing to keep serving and to wait patiently. Think of the great victorious souls of the past who worked with steadfast faith and who were invincible and courageous! There are many blessings we will never obtain if we are unwilling to accept and endure suffering. And there are harvests that will grow only once the plow has done its work...-Cowman, from In the Hour of Silence, Streams.......Job42:12 “The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first.”
#0001889
Learn to wait on God until He unfolds His will before you. Allow Him to develop all the plans of your heart and mind, and then let Him accomplish them. Do not possess any wisdom of your own. Listen, obey, and trust Him. The reason many of us do not know and understand God better is that we do not heed His gentle 'checks'--His delicate restraints and constraints. His voice is a 'gentle whisper'. A whisper can hardly be heard, so it must be felt as a faint and steady pressure upon the heart and mind, like the touch of a morning breeze calmly moving across the soul. And when it is heeded, it quietly grows clearer in the inner ear of the heart...-Cowman, The Way of Faith, Streams.......Romans8:28 “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”

God gave Job glimpses of his future glory, for in those weary and difficult days and nights, he was allowed to penetrate God's veil and could honestly say, 'I know that my Redeemer lives'...-Cowman, from In the Hour of Silence, Streams.......Matthew7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

“And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and He is eternal life(1John5:20).- Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house(Matt5:14,15).- There are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all(1Cor12:6)...
#0001892
“The manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man(1Cor12:7).- Of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do(1Chr12:72).- To one is given by the Spirit the Word of Wisdom; to another the Word of Knowledge by the same Spirit(1Cor12:8).- Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand which could keep rank: they were not of double heart(1Chr12:33).- The members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.(1Cor12:25b).- One Lord, one faith, one baptism(Eph4:4).”

If then, O soul, the brook your heart has cherished/ Does fail you now--no more your thirst assuage--/ If its once glad refreshing streams have perished,/ Let HIM your heart engage./ He will not fail, nor mock, nor disappoint you;/ His comfort and care change not with the years;/ With oil of joy He surely will annoint you,/ And wipe away your tears./...-JDanson Smith.......Heb13:5 “Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said 'I will never fail you. I will never abandon you'.”

The dwindling brook at the Kerith Ravine, where Elijah sat deep in thought, is a true picture of each of our lives. 'Some time later the brook dried up'(1Kings17:7)--this is the history of our yesterdays, and a prophecy of our tomorrows. One way or the other, we must all learn the difference between trusting in the gift and trusting in the Giver. The gift may last for a season, but the Giver is the only eternal love...-FBMeyer, Streams.......1John5:20 “And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and He is eternal life.”

If the Lord had led Elijah directly to Zarephath, he would have missed something that helped to make him a wiser prophet and a better man--living by faith at Kerith. And whenever our earthly stream or any other outer resource has dried up, it has been allowed so we may learn that our hope and help are in God, who made heaven and earth...-FBMeyer, Streams In The Desert......Ecc9:11 “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill.-The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it(Proverbs10:22).”
#0001896
“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to Him(Proverbs2:1-8).”
#0001897
“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Then you will understand what is right, just and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted. These men turn from the right way to walk down dark paths. They take pleasure in doing wrong, and they enjoy the twisted ways of evil. Their actions are crooked, and their ways are wrong(Proverbs2:1,9-15).”

What good has worrying ever accomplished? It has never made anyone stronger, helped anyone to do God's will, or provided for anyone a way of escape out of their anxiety or confusion. Worry only destroys the effectiveness of lives that would otherwise be useful and beautiful. Being restless and having cares are absolutely forbidden by our Lord who said 'Do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or What shall we wear?(Matthew6:31).'He does not mean that we are not to think ahead or that our life should never have a plan or pattern to it. He simply means that we are not to worry about these things...-Darlow Sargent, Streams.......Phi4:6 “Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.”
#0001899
When we rely on our own strength, resources, and knowledge, we assume we can handle situations without help from God. We tend to divide problems into two categories: problems that we know require God's help and problems we think we can handle on our own. Paul had a tenacious personality and an exceptionally strong will. When he thought he was strong, he neglected to rely upon God's strength. Only in his weakness did Paul trust implicitly in God. He was afflicted with a thorn in the flesh(2Cor12:7). Whatever this was, it humbled him. He had performed miracles, even raising the dead; but Paul could not remove the affliction that God had given him, an affliction that made him depend on God. God will bring you to a point of weakness if that is what it takes to bring you to trust in Him. Do not despise your weakness, for it leads you to trust in God's strength...-HBlackaby, Experiencing God.......2Cor12:9

The greenest grass is found wherever the most rain falls. So I suppose it is the fog and mist of Ireland that makes it 'the Emerald Isle'. And wherever you find the widespread fog of trouble and the mist of sorrow, you always find emerald green hearts that are full of the beautiful foliage of the comfort and love of God. Waiting on Him exercises your gift of grace and tests your faith.
