"Jesus told them, 'This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent'(John6:29). They answered, 'Show us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What can you do(v30)? After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say, 'Moses gave the bread from heaven to eat'(v31).' Jesus said, 'I tell you the truth, Moses didn't give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now He offers you the true bread from heaven(v32). The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world'(v33). 'Sir,' they said, 'give us that bread every day(v34).' Jesus replied, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty'(Jn6:35)."

#0002937

The opposite of joy is not sorrow. It is unbelief...- Leslie Weath........1John5:11 "God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son."

#0002938

"We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer(Prv16:1). People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives(v2). Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed(v3). The Lord has made everything for His own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster(v4). The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished(v5). Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil(Proverbs16:6)."

#0002939

"When people's lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace them(Prv16:7). Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest(v8). We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps(Proverbs16:9)."

#0002940

Knowledge and good intentions. Together they ensure continued success. A fine intellect wedded to a wicked will is always an unnatural monster. A wicked will poisons all perfections; helped by knowledge it only ruins with greater subtlety. It is a miserable superiority that only results in ruin. Knowledge without sense is double folly...- Baltasar Gracian Aphorism16, The Art of Worldly Wisdom by JJacobs..........Titus2:11-13 "For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed."

#0002941

Be slow to fall into friendship but when thou art in, continue firm and constant...- Socrates.....Proverbs 27:9,10 "The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. Never abandon a friend--either yours or your father's. When disaster strikes, you won't have to ask your brother for assistance. It's better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away."

#0002942

"There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked(Isa48:22).- 'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope'(Jer29:11).- Unless they turn to Me for help. Let them make peace with Me; yes, let them make peace with Me(Isa27:5). But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to Him through the blood of Christ(Isa2:13)."

#0002943

You can turn painful situations around through laughter. If you can find humor in anything --even poverty--you can survive it...- Bill Cosby........Acts17:27,28a "His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him--though He is not far from any one of us. For in Him we live and move and exist."

#0002944

As each new day unfolds, you are confronted with a wide range of decisions: how you will behave, where you will direct your thoughts, with whom you will associate, and what you will choose to worship. These choices, along with many others like them, are yours and yours alone. How you choose determines how your relationship with God will unfold. . . Your relationship with God is ongoing and it offers countless opportunities to grow closer to Him. . . Are you continuing to grow in your love and knowledge of the Lord, or are you 'satisfied' with the current state of your spiritual health? Hopefully, you're determined to keep growing in Christ. Your Savior deserves no less, and neither, by the way, do you...- Freeman-Smith, A Daily Walk Through Proverbs.....2Pet3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity."

#0002945

"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth(1Jn1:8). But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness(v9). If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts(1Jn1:10).- Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past: . . . that He might be just, and the justifier of Him which believeth in Jesus(Rom3:24-26). Trust ye in the Lord for ever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength(Isa26:4)."

#0002946

"He that hath the Son, hath life; and He that hath not the Son of God, hath not life(1Jn5:12).- For just as the Father gives life to those He raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone He wants(Jn5:21).- The Father has life in Himself, and He has granted that same life-giving power to His Son(Jn5:26).- God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son(1Jn5:11)."

#0002947

"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die(Jn11:25,26).- I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth His life for the sheep. I lay down My life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father(Jn10:11,17,18).- No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me(Jn14:6)."

#0002948

Every difficult task that comes across your path--every one that you would rather not do, that will take the most effort, cause the most pain, and be the greatest struggle--brings a blessing with it. And refusing to do it regardless of the personal cost is to miss the blessing. . . Every difficult stretch of road on which you see the Master's footprints and along which He calls you to follow Him leads unquestionably to blessings. And they are blessings you will never receive unless you travel the steep and thorny path. . . Every battlefield you encounter, where you are required to draw your sword and fight the enemy, has the possibility of victory that will prove to be a rich blessing to your life. And every heavy burden you are called upon to lift hides within itself a miraculous secret of strength...- JRMiller, Streams.....Deut1:36 "I will give him . . . the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly."

#0002949

'Where is His peace?' you ask. I'll tell you where it is. It abides in the hearts of all who have trusted His grace. And in the same proportion that the world has trusted in Christ, it also has peace. Yet our world continues to be torn by wars and unrest. I know of no country that is completely safe or completely at peace. . . The greatest war of all, however, is the war between us and God, as we stubbornly rebel against His authority and defiantly seize control of our lives apart from Him. But now the war can be over, as we yield ourselves to Christ as our Lord. Then we have peace--peace with God, peace in our hearts, and peace with each other. Is the war over in your life?..- Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day.....Luke2:14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace."

#0002950

If we sincerely want to change ourselves for the better, we must start on the inside and work our way out from there. Lasting change doesn't occur 'out there'; it occurs 'in here.' It occurs, not in the shifting sands of our own particular circumstances, but in the quiet depths of our own hearts. . . Are you in search of a new beginning or, for that matter, a new you? If so, don't expect changing circumstances to miraculously transform you into the person you want to become. Transformation starts with God, and it starts in the silent center of a humble human heart--like yours. . . No matter how badly we have failed, we can always get up and begin again. Our God is the God of new beginnings...- Warren Wiersbe, A Daily Walk Through Proverbs.....Ezekiel36:26 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you."

#0002951

"Don't envy evil people or desire their company(Prv24:1). For their hearts plot violence, and their words always stir up trouble(v2). A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense(v3). Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables(v4). The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger(v5). So don't go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers(Proverbs24:6)."

#0002952

"My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste(Prv24:13). In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short(Proverbs24:14).- If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking (James1:5).- For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it(Prv8:11).- But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness(Jam3:17,18).- Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise Him forever(Psa111:10)."

#0002953

"I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment (Prv8:12). All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech(v13). Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine(v14). Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees(v15). Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments(Prv8:16)."

#0002954

"I, Wisdom, love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me(Prv8:17). I have riches and honor, as well as enduring wealth and justice(v18). My gifts are better than gold, even the purest gold, my wages better than sterling silver(v19)! I walk in righteousness, in paths of justice(v20). Those who love me inherit wealth. I will fill their treasuries(Proverbs8:21)."

#0002955

"The Lord formed me from the beginning, before He created anything else(Prv8:22). I, Wisdom, was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began(v23). I was born before the oceans were created, before the springs bubbled forth their waters(v24). Before the mountains were formed, before the hills, I was born(v25)--before He had made the earth and fields and the first handfuls of soil(v26). I was there when He established the heavens, when He drew the horizon on the oceans(v27)."

#0002956

"I, Wisdom, was there when He set the limits of the seas; so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when He marked off the world's foundations(Prv8:29), I was the architect at His side. I was His constant delight, rejoicing always in His presence(v30). And how happy I was with the world He created; how I rejoiced with the human family(v31)!"

#0002957

"And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful(Prv8:32). Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don't ignore it(v33). Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home(v34)! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord(v35). But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death(Prv8:36)."

#0002958

Are you at peace with the direction of your life? Perhaps you seek a new direction or a sense of renewed purpose, but those feelings should never rob you of the genuine peace that can and should be yours through a personal relationship with Jesus. . . Have you found the lasting peace that can be yours through Jesus, or are you still rushing after the illusion of 'peace and happiness' that our world promises but cannot deliver? Today, as a gift to yourself, to your family, and to your friends, claim the inner peace that is your spiritual birthright: the peace of Jesus Christ. . . That peace, which has been described and which believers enjoy, is a participation of the peace which their glorious Lord and Master himself enjoys...- Jonathan Edwards, A Daily Walk Through Proverbs.....Eph2:13,14 "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace."

#0002959

"Wisdom has built her house; she has carved its seven columns(Prv9:1). She has prepared a great banquet, mixed the wines, and set the table(v2). She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come. She calls out from the heights overlooking the city(v3). 'Come in with me,' she urges the simple. To those who lack good judgment, she says(v4), 'Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed(v5). Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgment'(v6)."

#0002960

"Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt(Prv9:7). So don't bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise and they will love you(v8). Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more(Prv9:9)."

#0002961

"Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment (Prv9:10). Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life(v11). If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer(Prv9:12)."

#0002962

"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me(Jn14:6).- Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved(Acts4:12).- My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand(Jn10:27,28).- He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ(Phi1:6)."

#0002963

"Is anything too hard for the Lord(Gen18:14)!- He is able . . . to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him(Heb7:25).- Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen(Jude24:25)."

#0002964

As we grow old the beauty steals inward...- Ralph Waldo Emerson.......Heb11:6 "And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him."

#0002965

The fact is, no one knows the future--except God. We even know so little about the world in which we live. No doubt scientists will continue to uncover astonishing facts about the universe. But even then, they will know only a miniscule amount compared with the total sum of potential knowledge. . . But God is infinite! He knows it all--because He created it in the first place. We will always be bewildered and confused by what we don't know, if we are honest. We don't even know our immediate futures; as James4:14 said, 'You do not know what will happen tomorrow. . . What should this mean? It should give us humility before God, and it should give us trust--trust in the God who does know our futures, and who works all things for His glory. You can trust all your tomorrows to Him!...- Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day.....Rom11:33 "How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out."

#0002966

Noble qualities. Noble qualities make noble people; a single one of them is worth more than a multitude of mediocre ones. There was once a man who made all his belongings, even his household utensils, as great as possible. How much more ought a great man see that the qualities of his soul are as great as possible. In God all is eternal and infinite; in a hero everything should be great and majestic, so that all his deeds--no, all his words--should be pervaded by a transcendent majesty...- Baltasar Gracian, Aphorism296, The Art Of Worldly Wisdom by JJacobs.....2Cor4:18 "We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

#0002967

People living in cities today would do well to follow the example of Isaac and as often as possible visit the fields of the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. After having grown weary from the heat and noise of the city, communion with nature is very refreshing and will bring a calming, healing influence. A walk through a field, a stroll by a seashore, or a hike across a meadow sprinkled with flowers will purge you of the impurities of life and will cause your heart to beat with new joy and hope...- Cowman-Reimann, Streams In The Desert.....Gen24:63 "He went out to the field one evening to meditate."

#0002968

We believe in having 'all our irons in the fire' and that all the time we spend away from the anvil or fire is wasted time. Yet our time is never more profitably spent than when we set aside time for quiet meditation, talking with God, and looking up to heaven. We can never have too many of these open spaces in life--hours set aside when our soul is completely open and accessible to any heavenly thought or influence that God may be pleased to send our way. . . Meditation is the 'Sunday' of the mind. In these hectic days, we should often give our mind a 'time' in which it will do no work but instead will simply be still, looking heavenward, and spread itself before the Lord like Gideon's fleece, allowing itself to be soaked with the moisture of the dew of heaven. We should have intervals of time when we do nothing, think nothing, and plan nothing but simply lie on the green lap of nature and 'rest awhile'...- Cowman- Reimann, Streams....Mark6:31 "Then Jesus said, 'Let's go off to a quiet place and rest awhile'."
