When you don’t have it, you want it; and when you have it, you are fearful that someone will take it from you or that you will not have enough to last. Jesus taught that the only way to find liberation from the power of greed is to shake yourself off it. Jesus pointed out that providing for His children brings great pleasure to the heart of the Father. Imagine your father who found pleasure in giving you what you needed. You are never more secure than when your Heavenly Father has taken control of your life, providing for you in ways that you cannot fathom or comprehend. As Paul wrote, in Ephesians3:20 “He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”

Wealth is Relative. Contentment and wealth are not corollaries—they don’t run side by side. If they did, those who are materially rich would be content. Contentment doesn’t depend on what you have as much as what you really are and what you have within. Envy involves just two--you and the person who has something you like but do not possess. Few of us admit to being envious of someone else, though none of us is immune to the temptation of being envious. So when we feel envious, how do we handle it? First, recognize it for what it is and forsake it. Tell the Lord that you are envious ofname the personthen start praying, 'Lord, thank You because You are blessing that brother/sister and I rejoice with him/her in what you are doing'. God gifts each of us to accomplish what He wants. Understanding that helps us combat the temptation to be envious of what God has done for someone else...-Sala, Refuge......Psalm37:1 “Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong.”

God uses all kinds of experiences in our lives that are distasteful, like the ingredients (flour, baking soda, oil, cocoa) of a cake if taken separately, to produce something wonderful like a chocolate cake. Taken as separate incidents, they are hard to understand but when we look back, we can see the hand of God using all of these events to accomplish His purpose. God controls the ingredients—the events and circumstances of your life—as well as the temp of the oven.
