It is easy to be brave from a safe distance...- Aesop.....James1:5-8 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that He will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."

Psalm37:5-7 "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in His way, over the man who carries out evil devices!"

"That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God(1Cor2:5). Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought(v6): But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory(v7): Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory(v8). But as it is written. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him(v9). But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God(v10)."
#0003063
"In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation. All power to Him forever! Amen(1Pe5:10,11)."

“We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves. We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord(Rom15:1).- Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don't. And those who don't eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. Who are you to condemn someone else's servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord's help, they will stand and receive His approval(Rom14:3,4)."

The golden rule for understanding in spiritual matters is not intellect, but obedience...- Oswald Chambers.....1Cor3:16 "Don't you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple."

I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad. Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers. -Helen Keller.....1Cor2:11,12 "No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. And we have received God's Spirit, not the world's spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us."
#0003066
I was like a stone lying in deep mud, but He that is might lifted me up and placed me on top of the wall...- St. Patrick.....1Corinthians3:18-23 "Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world's standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, 'He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.' And again, 'The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; He knows they are worthless.' So don't boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you--whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God."

It was the same night Isaac went to Beersheba. Because that was the same night he reached 'rest.' There had been a whole series of petty quarrels over the ownership of insignificant wells. There is nothing like 'little worries', particularly when there are many of them. Because of these little worries, even after the strife was over, the place held bad memories for Isaac. Therefore he was determined to leave and seek a change of scenery. He pitched his tent far away from the place of his former strife. That very night the revelation came. God spoke to him when there was no inner storm. He could not speak to Isaac when his mind was troubled. God' voice demands the silence of the soul. Only in the quiet of the spirit could Isaac hear the garments of his God brush by him. His still night became his shining night...- George Matheson, Streams.......Genesis26:24 "That night the Lord appeared to Isaac."

Prize intensity more than extent. Excellence resides in quality not in quantity. The best is always few and rare--abundance lowers value. Even among men, the giants are usually really dwarfs. Some reckon books by the thickness, as if they were written to excercise the brawn more than the brain. Extent alone never rises above mediocrity; it is the misfortune of universal geniuses that in attempting to be at home everywhere are so nowhere. Intensity gives eminence and rises to the heroic in matters sublime...- Gracian, Art of Worldly Wisdom, by JJacobs.....Colossians2:9,10 "For in Christ lives all the fulness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority."
#0003069
What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us...- Helen Keller.....Isaiah40:31 "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
#0003070
Tact is the ability to describe others as they see themselves...- Abraham Lincoln......1Cor2:9,10 "It is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit."
#0003071
"Don't be misled--you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant(Gal6:7). Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit(v8). So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up(v9). Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone--especially to those in the family of faith(Galatians6:10)."
#0003072
"Listen in silence before me, you lands beyond the sea. Bring your strongest arguments. Come now and speak. The court is ready for your case(Isa41:1). Who has stirred up this king from the east, rightly calling him to God's service? Who gives this man victory over many nations and permits him to trample their kings underfoot? With his sword, he reduces armies to dust. With his bow, he scatters them like chaff before the wind(v2). He chases them away and goes on safely, though he is walking over unfamiliar ground(v3). Who has done such mighty deeds, summoning each generation from the beginning of time? It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am He(Isaiah41:4)."
#0003073
"The lands beyond the sea watch in fear. Remote lands tremble and mobilize for war(Isa41:5). The idol makers encourage one another, saying to each other, 'Be strong(v6)!' The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil. 'Good,' they say, 'It's coming along fine.' Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won't fall over(v7). But as for you, Israel My servant, Jacob My chosen one, descended from Abraham My friend(v8), I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, 'You are My servant.' For I have chosen you and will not throw you away(v9). Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand(Isaiah41:10)."
#0003074
"See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated. Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing(Isa41:11). You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you. Those who attack you will come to nothing(v12). For I hold you by your right hand--I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, 'Don't be afraid. I am here to help you(v13). Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don't be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel'(v14). You will be a new threshing instrument with many sharp teeth. You will tear your enemies apart, making chaff of mountains(v15). You will toss them into the air, and the wind will blow them all away; a whirlwind will scatter them. Then you will rejoice in the Lord. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel(Isaiah41:16). "
#0003075
"When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I, the Lord, will answer them. I, the God of Israel will never abandon them(Isa41:17). I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground(v18). I will plant trees in the barren desert--cedar, acacia, myrtle, olive, cypress, fir, and pine(v19). I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means--that it is the Lord who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it(Isaiah41:20)."
#0003076
"'Present the case for your idols,' says the Lord. 'Let them show what they can do, says the King of Israel(Isa41:21). Let them try to tell us what happened so that we may consider the evidence. Or let them tell us what the future holds, so we can know what's going to happen(v22). Yes, tell us what will occur in the days ahead. Then we will know you are gods. In fact, do anything--good or bad! Do something that will amaze and frighten us(v23). But no! You are less than nothing and can do nothing at all. Those who choose you pollute themselves(v24). But I have stirred up a leader who will come from the north. I have called Him by name from the east. I will give Him victory over kings and princes. He will trample them as a potter treads on clay(Isaiah41:25)."
#0003077
"I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power(Eph1:19) that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms(v20). Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else--not only in this world but also in the world to come(v21). God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church(v22). And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself(Ephesians1:23)."
#0003078
"Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name--and his son's name? Tell me if you know(Prv30:4)! Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection(v5). Do not add to His Words, or He may rebuke you and expose you as a liar(v6). O God, I beg two favors from You; let me have them before I die(v7). First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs(v8). For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name(Proverbs30:9)."
#0003079
"Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor(Prv29:23). If you assist a thief, you only hurt yourself. You are sworn to tell the truth, but you dare not testify(v24). Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety(v25). Many seek the ruler's favor, but justice comes from the Lord(v26). The righteous despise the unjust; the wicked despise the godly(Proverbs29:27)."
#0003080
"When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful(Prv29:18). Words alone will not discipline a servant; the words may be understood, but they are not heeded(v19). There is more hope for a fool than for someone who speaks without thinking(v20). A servant pampered from childhood will become a rebel(v21). An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin(Proverbs29:22)."
#0003081
"The poor and the oppressor have this in common--the Lord gives sight to the eyes of both(Prv29:13). If a king judges the poor fairly, His throne will last forever(v14). To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child(v15). When the wicked are in authority, sin flourishes, but the godly will live to see their downfall(v16). Discipline your children and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad(Proverbs29:17)."
#0003082
"Who told you from the beginning that this would happen? Who predicted this, making you admit that he was right? No one said a word(Isa41:26)! I was the first to tell Zion, 'Look! Help is on the way! I will send Jerusalem a messenger with good news(v27). Not one of your idols told you this. Not one gave any answer when I asked(v28). See, they are all foolish, worthless things. All your idols are as empty as the wind'(Proverbs41:29)."
#0003083
Sometimes the Hinges of History are small; inconsequential things can cause momentous events to take place. Take, for example, a tiny piece of rubber mat protruding from the courtyard of a small farm in Iraq. The mat caught the eye of an American soldier as he searched the courtyard. He stopped, ready to drop a grenade into the hole covered by the mat when a man from below stammered, 'I am Saddam Hussein, president of Iraq, and I am willing to negotiate.' . . . There are times when seemingly insignificant events radically change your life. How do you view those hinges in your life--chance happenings, or the unseen hand of God directing your path? If you believe God is sovereign, then you see His hand instead of luck or coincidence...- Sala, Refuge And Strength.....Proverbs14:12 "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."
#0003084
For the Allied soldiers forced into a pocket at Dunkirk by Hitler's soldiers, the hinge of history was an unseasonable fog that allowed 300,000 men to be evacuated to be evacuated to England, greatly affecting the outcome of the war. 'It just happened,' some said. But for the thousands who were praying for deliverance, they didn't see it that way. . . Events which form the hinges of history are almost always overlooked. So is it in our lives as well--a friendship, a closed door, a good deed, a thoughtful bit of advice, can send you in a different direction which you later on recognize to be a decisive event in your past. . . Look for the small hinges of history in your own life. They are the small nudges from on high as God directs your life--protecting you, guiding you, and showing you the way. No wonder Daniel wrote, 'He is the living God'...- Sala, Refuge And Strength....Daniel6:26b,27 "For He is the living God, and He will endure forever. His Kingdom will never be destroyed, and His rule will never end. He rescues and saves His people….”
#0003085
"Anyone who steals from his father and mother and says, 'What's wrong with that?' is no better than a murderer(Proverbs28:24). Greed causes fighting; trusting the Lord leads to prosperity(v25). Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe(v26). Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed(v27). When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. When the wicked meet disaster, the godly flourish(Prv28:28)."
#0003086
"This God is our God for ever and ever: He will be our guide even unto death(Psa48:14).- O Lord, Thou art my God; I will exalt Thee, I will praise Thy name; for Thou hast done wonderful things; Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth(Isa25:1).- The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance, and of my cup(Psa16:5).- He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me(Psa23:3,4)."
#0003087
"Thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in Heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever(Psalm73:23-26).- Our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name(Psa33:21).- The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands(Psalm138:8)."
#0003088
"In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul(Psa94:19).- When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I(Psa61:2). O Lord, I am oppressed; undertake for me(Isa38:14).- Cast Thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee(Psa55:22).- I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in(1Ki3:7).- If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, . . . and it shall be given him(Jam1:5)."
#0003089
"My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; . . . when I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches(Psa63:5,6).- Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. . . . Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole(Mat9:2,22).- Who is sufficient for these things(2Cor2:16).- I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing(Rom7:18).- My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness(2Cor12:9)."
